DIRECTIONS

PREPARATION:

Perform surface preparation in accordance with ICRI Technical
Guidelines No. 03730. Repair surfaces must be clean, sound and
free from contaminates that can act as a bond breaker such as
oil, curing compounds, acids, dirt, grease, paint and loose debris.
The use of GST International Pro-Grade Cleaner and power
washing is strongly advised in order to properly prepare the
bonding surface. Elephant Armor® Primer can be applied to dry
or slightly damp surfaces free of standing water. A blower may
be used to remove any excess water.
SLURRY/BOND COAT (Best Practice)
A Slurry/Bond Coat is a blend of Elephant Armor® with enough
undiluted Elephant Armor® Primer (2 parts Elephant Armor® to
1 part EA Primer) to make a paint-like consistency. Work slurry
into the repair area or substrate with a stiff masonry brush
coating the entire area. Pay special attention to the corners,
sides and any exposed rebar. Any rebar or steel reinforcing that
has been exposed will need standard rust remediation before
Elephant Armor® Primer is installed. Place the Elephant
Armor® Mortar before the Elephant Armor® Primer “slurry
coat” dries and becomes tack-free. If this occurs, you will need
to re-apply Elephant Armor® Primer (neat) to re-establish
tackiness. This application conforms to the structural bonding
requirements of ASTM C 1059-13, Type II.
Application rate for the Elephant Armor® Primer “slurry coat”
is 50 to 100 square foot per 1 gallon of Elephant Armor®
Primerand 25 lbs. of Elephant Armor® (1/2 bag). Roughness
and porosity of the concrete sub-strate will affect coverage.
BONDING AGENT (NEAT)
Apply Elephant Armor® Primer undiluted by brush, roller or
GST International’s specially designed pump sprayer on to the
prepared surface. When the primed surface becomes tacky, place
the Elephant Armor® before the EA Primer dries and becomes
tack-free. Elephant Armor® Primer used neat, does not conform
to the structural bonding requirements of ASTM C 1059-13, Type II.
LIMITATIONS / SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
• Do not allow to freeze.
• Do not apply at temperatures below 40ºF. (5ºC)
• Do not apply over frozen or previously painted surfaces.
• Do not apply where excessive hydrostatic pressure is present.
• Protect the primer film from dirt and moisture, prior to
Elephant Armor® being placed.
